Tips to avoid mishaps in gas stations

A gas station needs to be maintained in a proper way so that the flow of customers is always constant. There are many do's and don'ts at a gas station and it should be followed religiously in order to avoid any mishaps.

Working in a gas station is always a big challenge because you need to make sure that there is no room for mistake. Even a slight change can cause havoc and the consequence can be lethal. In order to maintain safety and security in your gas station, you need to follow few rules which would help in running it successfully.

Refurbished gas pumps work as good as new pumps. However, you need to make
sure that they work properly and do not have any leak in the pipes. You can speak to the seller so that they give you a proper walkthrough and you get to test it properly. Ask for suggestions on how to prevent any leak and to keep it on a proper stage.

Refurbished gas dispensers are risky and quite dangerous if you are not getting it from proper sources. So always make sure that you make the right choice while opting for the refurbished gas pumps. Refrain from lighting anything inside the gas station. Put warning signs and symbols and make sure everyone follows it.

One should never enter the car while fueling. The static electricity generated can cause sparks which might lead to an explosion.

Install security cameras all around the place in order to keep an eye. You should inform the police right away of you observe any abnormalities in the place. Make sure the public telephone is in a working condition. Though cell phones have wiped out pay phones but often in the case of emergencies these phones can be lifesavers.

Children should not be entertained to step out of fiddle around while the car is being fuelled. They might unknowingly spill or cause damage. It is better to keep them inside the car or the shop.

Put up boards and signs so that people do not talk over the phones while they are fueling their cars. It can lead to an explosion and by all means, you should try to avoid it.

Put up signs and boards and tell people repeatedly not to smoke while they are at the gas station or even within few yards. A small mistake can trigger a huge accident which might cost many lives. So tell them to follow the rules while they are at the gas station and do the same on your part.
